How the RENU™ Impact Flash-Drying & Milling System Works

Meet RENU™, the most advanced powder production technology for the food and beverage industry. RENU™ simultaneously dries and micronizes organic material in milliseconds through low-temperature impact flash-drying. The impact flash-drying process begins with a gravimetric hopper. Material is deposited onto a weigh belt feeder, which allows for precise and uniform control of material infeed to begin the size and moisture reduction process.

The prepared material then enters the inlet airlock and is guided into the RENU™ mill with treated air. Material enters the first chamber of the mill, where the initial particle size reduction process begins. Through a precise combination of pressure, temperature, and rapid acceleration and decelerations, material interacts with our proprietary blade design thousands of times per second, liberating the first layer of free moisture from the input material.

The temperature-controlled housing design and geometry optimizes material flow between Chamber 1 and Chamber 2. Particles rapidly move to Chamber 2, where remaining free moisture is removed and final particle size reduction occurs. Material also undergoes a validated five log kill step. An induced pressure drop forces powder material and water vapor from our mill to the outlet spooling and into the air filter receiver.

The air filter receiver vents remaining water vapor and separates powderized material through the outlet airlock. Final powders can be conveyed through quality checkpoints such as x-ray, metal detection, additional sifting, and final packaging. RENU's residence time from raw material infeed to powder output is less than one second, removing up to 99% of source moisture at operating temperatures averaging under 165 degrees.
